Drug charges, Aitkenvale
Townsville Police have charged a man with drug offences after he was intercepted driving a vehicle in Aitkenvale last night.
At about 10.50pm, officers from the Townsville Tactical Crime Squad stopped the man in a fast food carpark at Alfred Street, Aitkenvale. A search of this vehicle allegedly located a quantity of cash, cannabis, morphine and methylamphetamine (approximately 24 grams) as well as other drug paraphernalia.
The 50-year-old Townsville man was charged with one count each of possessing methylamphetamine (exceeding Schedule 3 amount but less than Schedule 4), possession of cannabis, possession of a controlled drug, possess property suspected of being Proceeds of an offence under the drugs misuse act, possessing a drug utensil and possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.
Police have objected to his bail and he is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates court later today.
