Disturbance and drink drive, Townsville
Police have charged a man with multiple offences after creating a disturbance in licensed premises on Flinders Street overnight.
At about 9.20pm, police will allege that the man has approached a licensed premises and has been abusive towards security staff after being refused entry to licensed premises. The man then entered a bar and allegedly demanded a drink from bar staff. He was refused service and became aggressive. The man has then allegedly spat toward the bartender with the spit landing on his shirt. The man then left the premises.
Police then received information about a suspect vehicle in Townsville city that had left the Flinders Street East car park and had been driving erratically. The vehicle had returned to the city and parked in Wickham Street. Witnesses alleged that the vehicle had been driven by the same man.
Police then located the man in another licensed premises in Flinders Street and he provided an alleged positive roadside breath test and was then transported to the Townsville Hospital for further testing.
A 23-year-old Wulguru man has been charged with one count each of assault, public nuisance, driving under the influence, fail to provide specimen of blood for analysis, drive defective vehicle and possession of a knife.
He will be appearing in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
Drink driving, Townsville
Police have charged a man with drink driving early this morning after being involved in a single vehicle traffic crash on the Strand outside Anzac Park.
Police will allege that the driver had lost control of the vehicle. Police observed the vehicle to be on its roof. Police will allege the man recorded a positive roadside breath test and was transported to the Townsville police station for further testing, where he recorded a positive blood alcohol concentration of 0.122 per cent.
A 33-year-old Mount Low man is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on August 31.
High end speed, Richmond
A man has been fined after allegedly being detected travelling 161km/hr in a 110km/hr zone on Flinders Highway, Richmond on Wednesday evening.
Police from Hughenden observed an Isuzu D-Max on travelling at an excessive speed on Flinders Highway at approximately 6:20pm.
Police issued a 29-year-old Richmond man with an infringement notice for $1137 and eight demerit points.
The driver will automatically lose his licence for a period of 6 months.
