Assault charges, Woree: Officers from the Cairns Child Protection Investigation Unit have charged a man following their investigation into an alleged assault involving a child, which occurred on August 5.
It will be alleged the man intervened in a play incident involving a number of children at a Sandown Close address and slapped one 11-year-old boy across the face. The child sustained a bleeding nose and facial swelling as a result of the alleged incident.
A 34-year-old Woree man has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 5.
