Serious assault charge, Parramatta Park: Detectives have charged a man following investigations into an alleged assault at Parramatta Park earlier this month.
It will be alleged that the man had been attending a group function at a Bunda Street licensed café at around 11pm on August 4, when he punched a 21-year-old Westcourt man to the head.
The victim was knocked unconscious as a result of the incident and sustained a fractured jaw. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to the Cairns Hospital where he underwent surgery.
A 27-year-old Parramatta Park man has been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 1.
Counterfeit currency charges, Cairns: Detectives have charged a man following investigations into the alleged passing of counterfeit currency in Cairns on August 15 and 16.
Police will allege the man passed a counterfeit $50 dollar note on two occasions at an inner city licensed premise.
Police will further allege that when police took the man into custody he was in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
A 40-year-old Manoora man was charged with two counts of uttering counterfeit currency and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing and possession of a drug utensil.
The man is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 1.
