Police are disturbed by the drink driving results for the Tablelands after five people were charged overnight.

Drink driving, Tablelands:

It will be alleged police intercepted a 44-year-old Gordonvale man at about 7:10pm on Fourth Avenue, Atherton and when required to provide a roadside breath test, he returned a positive reading of 0.146 per cent BAC. He is expected to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on a later date, charged with one count of drink driving.

Police intercepted a 56-year-old Tarzali woman at about 7:50pm on Millaa Millaa Malanda Road, Millaa Millaa, and it will be alleged that when required to provide a roadside breath test, she returned a positive reading of 0.054 per cent.  She is expected to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on September 25, charged with one count of drink driving.

A 28-year-old Dimbulah man was intercepted at about 7:50pm on Mareeba Dimbulah Road, Dimbulah, and it will be alleged that when required to provide a roadside breath test, he returned a positive reading of 0.127 per cent BAC.  He is expected to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on September 18, charged with one count of drink driving.

It will be alleged police intercepted a 43-year-old local man at about 8pm on Atherton Street, Mareeba, and when required to provide a roadside breath test, he returned a positive reading of 0.107 per cent. He is expected to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on August 28, charged with one count of drink driving.

It will also be alleged that police intercepted a 22-year-old local woman at about 8:20pm on Argyle Street, Dimbulah, and when required to provide a roadside breath test, she returned a positive reading of 0.083 per cent BAC. She is expected to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court at a later date, charged with one count of drink driving.

Drug possession, Atherton: Police have charged a local man after attending an address in Atherton on Thursday evening.

At about 10:45pm police attended an address on Rita Circuit in relation to another incident and it will be alleged when they located the 48-year-old male resident in the lounge room he was smoking cannabis.

The man was charged with one count each of possessing a dangerous drug and possessing drug utensils and is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on September 19.

Contravene Direction, Mareeba: Police have charged a local man after an incident in Mareeba on Thursday evening.

It will be alleged that the 27-year-old man had been issued with a noise abatement notice the previous evening to cease all noise for a period of 96 hours.

Police were called at about 10:50pm to an Earl Street address where it will be alleged the man has had music blaring from his stereo.

He was issued with an on the spot fine for $252, for failing to comply with a noise abatement direction.
