Update: charges following hit and run traffic crash, Surfers Paradise
Police investigating a hit and run traffic crash at Surfers Paradise early this morning have charged a man with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.
The 38-year-old Hollywell man presented himself to Southport Police Station this afternoon where he was arrested and charged.
He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, August 21, where he also faces a charge of possession of a knife in a public place.
Police have also recovered the 1993 Nissan Patrol.

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Surfers Paradise this morning.
Preliminary information suggests around 5.20am a four-wheel-drive travelling along Trickett Street struck a 43-year-old male pedestrian who was on the footpath before leaving the scene.
The man sustained a serious leg injury as a result and was transported to hospital.
Police have released an image of a vehicle believed to be linked to the incident, which is described as a 1993 green and silver Nissan Patrol with Queensland registration.
The vehicle also has a cargo cage fixed to the roof.
