Vehicle Watch August 21 – keep an eye out for these stolen cars

Do you check that your home and vehicle is secure before going to bed every night?

Are your car keys in easy reach?

Police urge members of the community to adopt the regular practice of ensuring that your vehicle is locked, your entire home is locked and your valuables like car keys, mobile phones and wallets are hidden out of plain view each and every night.

Whilst these simple steps should be done at all times, not just at night, thieves in the Cairns area are particularly active at night and actively targeting unlocked homes while the victims are sleeping.

In the past week thieves gained entry to unlocked homes in Redlynch, Manunda and Brinsmead. Car keys were easily accessed from common rooms like the lounge room and kitchen areas. Wallets and mobile phones were also stolen. Thieves made their way quickly and quietly throughout the homes before stealing the victims car.

It only takes a few minutes to check that you are all locked up.

Police need your help to locate a number of vehicles stolen throughout the district.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.

You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.
