Stealing and wilful damage, Townsville
Police have charged two girls with a number of offences following a shop stealing incident at Aitkenvale on August 18.
The two 12-year-old girls were located in Garbutt that evening and were arrested for the stealing offence.
While transporting them to the Townsville Station, police will allege that the girls wrote obscenities with a permanent marker in the back of the police van. The girls also allegedly scratched the inside of the van with a pair of tweezers.
The girls were charged with two counts each of stealing and one count each of wilful damage.
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault occasioning bodily harm, Heatley
A man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault occasioning bodily harm, drive unregistered vehicle, and drive uninsured vehicle on Saturday night, August 20.
Police will allege that the driver lost control, mounted the curb and hit a large light pole on Nathan Street at about 8:20pm.
The vehicle has continued on, hitting a large road sign and crossing the grass verge used by pedestrians.
A witness has attempted to help the driver. The driver has then allegedly bitten the witness on the leg and thumb, punched the witness in the head and spat in his face.
A 23-year-old Heatley man will be appearing in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
