Unlawful use of a motor vehicle (ambulance), Browns Plains

A man has been charged after he allegedly attempted to ram and steal an ambulance in Browns Plains yesterday.

It will be alleged that around 7pm, ambulance officers attended a home on Downing Street after a man had reported having chest pains.

When they arrived, the man allegedly began verbally abusing the ambulance staff who had parked in his driveway.

They moved away from the man, who had threatened to ram the ambulance if it wasn’t moved.

It will be further alleged that the man then got into his vehicle, reversed his car and went to ram the ambulance before stopping.

He then allegedly entered the ambulance and reversed it down the street before being stopped by police, who had attended the scene within four minutes of being advised of the situation.

The man was taken into custody without incident.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

A 57-year-old Browns Plains man remains in custody and has been charged with one count of drink driving (0.134 per cent).

It is further expected he will be charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and threatening violence.

He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on September 11.
