Marine E-watch launch at Palm Beach Police Community Consultative Committee meeting
The Palm Beach Police Community Consultative Committee meeting welcomed guest speaker Acting Senior Sergeant Mitch Gray from the Gold Coast Water Police.
Along with outlining the vast array of duties undertaken by the Water Police, Senior Sergeant Gray outlined his new strategy to connect the residents of the southern Gold Coast waterways.
Marine E-watch will give waterfront residents greater connection to up-to-date information and reporting capacity. The format will follow a traditional the Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) program and will involve an online NHW blog where information will be exchanged between residents and an administrator. Information will include safety and crime prevention information, as well as how to report information, and general community safety issues relevant to waterfront residents.
In this time poor society, meetings and information are conducted online and this is an avenue they believe will assist them in serving the community more efficiently.
Senior Sergeant Gray is seeking a volunteer to assist in the administration of Marine E-watch and would love to speak with any interested persons.
This is a pilot project so the outcomes will be measured to determine its success and if necessary any adjustments.
Marine E-watch will assist the Gold Coast Water Police, whose office is at Main Beach, to have greater connectivity.
Their responsibilities include a vast area of the Gold Coast including on land as they are responsible for search and rescue activities on land and at sea.
Any interested persons should contact Acting Senior Sergeant Mitch Gray at the Gold Coast Water Police 5509 5700.
