Speeding offence, Rollingstone
A man has been fined after allegedly being detected travelling 146km/hr in a 100km/hr zone on the Bruce Highway at Rollingstone yesterday afternoon.
Officers from the Townsville Road Policing Unit observed the Nissan Elegra campervan travelling at an excessive speed on Bruce Highway north of Rollingstone at approximately 3.30pm.
Police recorded the vehicle’s speed of 146km/hr using their mobile radar device and issued the French national tourist with a traffic infringement notice for $1177.
Possess dangerous drug, West End
Police have charged a man with drug offences following a vehicle intercept on Echlin Street early this morning.
It will be alleged that around 1.20am, police located a quantity of methylamphetamine inside the vehicle.
A 35-year-old West End man was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs, possess anything used in the commission of a crime and possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.
He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on September 19.
