Man charged over assault, Cornubia

A man has appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today charged over the alleged assault of another man at a residence in Cornubia yesterday afternoon.

It is alleged around 5pm yesterday a 24-year-old man answered a knock at the door of his Setaria Court home when he was confronted by two men, one armed with a hammer.

The men allegedly forced the victim outside where he was punched and kicked by the men.

It is further alleged one of the offenders produced a handgun during the incident.

The victim fled from the residence and police were called.

The man was transported to Logan Hospital for treatment to head, neck and rib injuries.

Police investigations led detectives to a Hemmant residence where it is alleged one of the offenders and a handgun were located.

A 23-year-old Hemmant man was charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm in company, enter dwelling with intent, possess utensils, authority required to possess explosives, unlawful possession of a weapon and three count of possess a dangerous drug.

Police investigations are ongoing to locate the second man.
