Pacific Fair Police Beat speaks up for road safety

Pacific Fair Police Beat speaks up for road safety

Every day, road crashes devastate the lives of Queenslanders and take an enormous toll on families and communities. We need all Queenslanders to take a stand. Yesterday shoppers at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre had the opportunity to speak up for road safety and think about what they can do to keep themselves and others safe on our road.

Officers from Gold Coast Road Policing and Pacific Fair Police Beat along with Volunteers in Policing had a display highlighting the Fatal Five.

Today’s theme is distractions and restraints where we are encouraging people to:

Take action against distractions:

  • In the car, swith your phone to silent so you’re not tempted.
  • Keep your phone out of sight. Pop it in the glove box.
  • Pull over safely before grabbing your phone or GPS.

Show some restraint:

  • No matter how short your journey, always wear your seatbelt.
  • Make sure your children are always properly restrained.
  • Remember, the driver is responsible for all passengers buckling up.
