Truckies Toolbox Talk in Babinda for Road Safety Week
Today, as part of the 2017 Queensland Road Safety Week awareness campaign, local Department of Transport and Mainroads Inspectors held a Truckies Tool Box Information Session for truckies travelling south on the highway today from 10am to 2pm.
Senior Constable Dan Whitling from Babinda Police stopped by and was on hand to help out with some questions from truck drivers, caravaning holiday makers and tourists in general.
“There were quite a few holiday makers and even a few truckies who called in for a rest and took the opportunity to talk to the TMR Inspectors and myself about safety on our roads,” Senior Constable Whitling said.
“It was all positive so we are expecting more involvement from our heavy vehicles and vehicles towing at the next Truckies Tool Box event.”
Senior Transport Inspector for the Northern Region Mr Phil Donnelly explained the day is aimed at raising awareness and assisting with achieving compliance within our audience of drivers in the heavy vehicle industry, promoting the safety on our roads here in Queensland.
“The department has placed the emphasis of this event on education rather than enforcement, so please, should you have any questions you would like to ask the team, call in and grab a coffee and bacon roll on us,” Mr Donnelly said.
