Queensland Road Safety Week in Sarina

Sarina police, QAS, QFRS and Hourigans Towing all gathered at the Sarina Showgrounds for an informative morning tea to educated members of the public and motorist that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Prior to the morning tea, Sarina Police conducted a static roadside breath test on the Bruce Highway. Police conducted over 200 tests and while a majority of motorist were doing the right thing, police stopped a driver who returned an alleged reading of 0.54 per cent BAC, which is over the legal limit. The motorist is due to appear in the Sarina Magistrate Court on September 4.

Hourigans Towing was on hand to share stories with the public in regards to their firsthand experience with traffic crashes they have attended and the damage to people’s life’s a lapses in concentration can cause.

Local Sarina QFES officer Billy Van Moolenbroek spoke with motorist about the importance of wearing seatbelts and the process of extracting a person trapped in a car.

Sarina Police were very pleased with the behaviour of motorist during road safety week and urge everyone to remember road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
