Police have charged a 38-year-old man with a number of drug offences following a vehicle intercept and the subsequent execution of a search warrant over the weekend.

Around 10.45pm on Saturday, August 26 officers from the Townsville Tactical Crime Unit intercepted a vehicle on Gregory Development Road at Seventy Mile for a Random Breath Test.

It will be alleged that while speaking with police, the driver of the vehicle became nervous, prompting officers to conduct a search of the vehicle.

During the search, police located clip seal bags containing 2kg of methylamphetamine with an estimated street value in excess of $1 million, $11,950 in cash, two pipes, two mobile phones, and freezer bags.

In the early hours of Sunday, August 27 police executed a search warrant at a property on Sandy Creek Road at Southern Cross.

During the search, police located two clip seal bags containing methylamphetamine and a pipe.

A 38-year-old Southern Cross man has been charged with one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, possess dangerous drugs Schedule 1 quantity, possess dangerous drugs, possess pipes, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, and receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking or supplying.

He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
