Multiple charges follow violent behaviour, Rural View
A 23-year-old Mount Pleasant man has been arrested and charged with multiple offences following an alleged incident at a licensed venue in Rural View.
It’s alleged that at 9:25pm on August 26, the man was directed to leave the licensed venue by staff due to his involvement in an altercation. During the process of being walked from the premises it’s further alleged that he was aggressive and pushed people. After being placed outside of the venue, the front door was barricaded as a result of his aggression.
It’s further alleged that the man used force to open the barricaded door resulting in a glass panel to be smashed. Once inside the venue again, it’s alleged the man has punched a person to the face. The male was then physically restrained until the arrival of police.
On police arrival the man was arrested and he has been charged with assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, common assault, wilful and unlawful damage, disorderly behaviour on licensed premises and failing to leave a licensed premises when required.
He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court this morning, August 28, to have the matters heard.
Police will not tolerate violent behaviour under any circumstances. Alcohol is not an excuse.
