Public nuisance charge, Atherton: Atherton Police today charged a 26-year-old Atherton man with one count each of public nuisance, wilful damage, stealing and obstructing police.
It’s alleged the Atherton man created a public nuisance in Albrecht Street, Atherton by jumping on a picnic table and swearing.
It’s further alleged he broke a broom before climbing into the back of a ute and waving the broken broom and a metal chain around his head.
Members of the public intervened and calmed the man down before he walked off.
Police arrested the man on Isabella Street at about 7:50am after he obstructed police.
The man is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on September 12.
Traffic crash, Biboohra: Mareeba Police were called to a traffic crash on the Mulligan Highway at Biboohra at about 4pm Wednesday and located a 61-year-old Manoora man standing near his overturned white dual cab utility.
It will be alleged police located a drug utensil at the scene before locating a quantity of cannabis seeds in his pocket.
It’s further alleged the man was conveyed to the Mareeba Hospital where he supplied a specimen of his blood for analysis. Investigations into the crash are continuing.
The man was issued with a notice to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on September 18.
Drug charge, Malanda: Malanda police yesterday charged a 17-year-old Malanda man with one count each of possessing a dangerous drug and possessing a drug utensil.
It’s alleged police executed a search warrant at 2:30pm yesterday at a Mary Street, Malanda home and seized a quantity of cannabis and a bong.
The man is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on September 9.
