Tuesday August 22 – Police from Home Hill have taken up with a 17-year-old Home Hill girl in relation to an outstanding shop stealing matter that occurred in an Ayr supermarket.
The girl was charged with alleged unlawfully take away goods and possessing a knife in a public place and is to appear in coming weeks.
At approximately 4pm, Home Hill Police were called by a concerned member of the public after observing a man driving a maroon sedan swerving over the Bruce Highway.
Police have intercepted the vehicle on Seventh Avenue and taken up with the 33-year-old male Brisbane driver. At this time, checks revealed that the person was wanted on an outstanding warrant and was subsequently arrested and transported to the Ayr Watchhouse. He was later transported to Townsville.
Proceedings have also commenced on the driver regarding his licence after it was revealed that he held a suspended licence as a result of a drink driving offence. This has resulted in the vehicle being immobilised for 90 days due to the driver’s history.
The man will be required to appear in the Ayr Magistrates Court in coming weeks for the traffic offence.
Thursday August 24 – At approximately 5:30pm, police from Home Hill were conducting static roadside breath test (RBT) on the southern side of the Burdekin Bridge. A 24-year-old Townsville man was intercepted and it was found he was wanted for questioning in relation to failing to attend a drug diversion program.
The man was issued with a notice to appear for the offence of contravene a police requirement and will be required to appear in the Ayr Magistrates Court on September 13.
Friday August 25 – Police from Home Hill were called to a service station in Home Hill after reports of a man failing to pay for fuel. Investigations were made resulting in a 38-year-old Home Hill man being located at his residence. The man allegedly became aggressive while speaking with police and was subsequently arrested. The man was transported to the Ayr Watchhouse.
He was released on bail to appear in the Ayr Magistrates Court on September 6 for the alleged offences of stealing, disqualified driving and obstruct police.
Saturday August 26 – At approximately 5:30pm, Home Hill Police were conducting a mobile radar south along the Bruce Highway when they have intercepted a white Toyota sedan after being observed driving at 140kmph in a 100kmph zone. The international backpacker driving the vehicle offered no excuse for his excessive speed.
He was issued with a traffic infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit with a cost of $588 and the loss of six demerit points.
