Drink driving and high range speeding offence, Deeragun
A man has been fined after allegedly being detected travelling 181km/h in a 100km/h on the Townsville Ring Road at Deeragun on Friday evening, September 1.
Officers from the Townsville Road Policing Unit observed the Toyota Camry travelling at an excessive speed at approximately 11pm.
Police recorded the vehicle’s speed of 181km/h using their mobile radar device and issued the 48 year-old-Wulguru man with a traffic infringement notice for $1177 and eight demerit points.
Police will further allege that the man recorded a positive roadside breath test and was transported to the Deeragun police station for further testing, where he recorded a positive blood alcohol concentration of 0.124 per cent.
He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on September 19.
Multiple offences, Heatley
Police have been conducting a random breath testing static site on Fulham Road on Friday, September 1 when they have observed occupants of a white holden commodore yelling and giving rude hand gestures as they drove by.
The vehicle has been intercepted on Dimmock Street. The male driver of the vehicle has allegedly become aggressive and abusive towards police. Police have then arrested the man for public nuisance and he has resisted violently. The other occupants of the vehicle have then obstructed police and become aggressive wanting to fight with police.
A 21-year-old Oonoonba man has been charged with 2 counts of public nuisance, one count each of obstruct police, holder of C learner licence failed to comply with requirements, learner must not drive motor vehicle unless L plates displayed.
A 20-year-old Mount Louisa female has been charged with one count of obstruct police and one count of assault police.
A 19-year-old Mount Louisa man has been charged with one count of public nuisance and obstruct police.
They will all be appearing in the Townsville Magistrates Court on September 19.
Drink driving and due care and attention, Douglas
Police were called to a single vehicle traffic crash at about midday on Sunday September 3 on the Ring Road, Douglas.
A witness has observed a Toyota Landcruiser swerving in the outside lane before mounting a steel guard rail on the outside of the road. The vehicle has continued to drive whilst on a 45 degree angle with the two left wheels on the guard rail for approximately 50 metres before coming to a stop in a culvert on the left hand side of the road.
Upon police arrival they observed a man in the driver’s seat and two young children seated in the car. The driver sustained a minor injury and the children were not injured.
Police will allege that the driver recorded a positive roadside breath test and was transported to the Stuart Police Station for further testing, where he recorded a positive blood alcohol concentration of 0.286 per cent. Police will allege that the man had spent Father’s Day with his children at a business in Kirwan.
A 45-year-old Alligator Creek man has been charged with drink driving and drive without due care and attention and is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on September 20.
