If you had ever wondered what services are available for Seniors in Cairns, then the Positive Ageing Fair held on August 18 was the place to be.

Stallholders from a variety of clubs and services around Cairns came together to provide information on services relevant to ageing seniors such as social clubs and groups, travel, yoga, pilates, bush poetry, games and much more.

There were plenty of tapping toes as the Cairns Seniors Travelling Band entertained the numbers and the beautiful meal capped off a great day out.

Acting Sergeant Lauren Barron from the Far North Cross Cultural Unit said it was a great opportunity to see what services are available for older people.

“We learnt about different clubs for seniors like a gardening club, a dance group and a rowing club,” Acting Sergeant Barron said.

“We found out about many great services like the Cairns Library, home assistance, mobility assistance, even a Home Pet Care service.”
