Locals urged to prepare for wild fire and bush fire season

Far North District Disaster Management Group (FN DDMG) meeting

Recently the Far North District Disaster Management Group (FN DDMG) met in partnership with the Rural Fires Regional Inter-departmental committee (RIDC) regarding the 2017 wild fire/bush fire season.

Executive Officer of the FN DDMG, Senior Sergeant Owen Kennedy urges far northerners to ensure they are prepared for the 2017 wild fire/bush fire season.

“The Far North DDMG approach has always been one of a collegiate partnership across all stakeholders of local, State and Australian Government agencies, the private sector and non government organisations no matter the event where people on the ground need our help and support,” Senior Sergeant Kennedy said.

“Legislation identifies events as wild fires as much as it does cyclones, flooding and the like and as you seen by the photograph of the meeting we are a team in our efforts.

“We ask all land owners and managers to take this 2017 Fire Season seriously in terms of the their preparations and planning.”
