Hit and run traffic crash, Whitfield: An investigation is underway into a two vehicle traffic crash that occurred at Whitfield last night.

A suburban bus was travelling north on McManus Street at around 9:40pm when the driver of a stolen sedan travelling east on a Reservoir Road off-ramp failed to give way, causing a collision between the two vehicles.

Up to seven youths were seen to exit the stolen vehicle immediately after the crash and fled on foot.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage as a result of the collision and the stolen car was towed.

The bus, which was not carrying any passengers at the time, was able to be driven from the scene and the driver was not injured.

The sedan had been stolen from a Mount Sheridan residence overnight on Sunday.

Driver detained due to drive-through dilemma, Manoora: A 53-year-old Manoora man was charged yesterday afternoon following an incident at a Pease Street family restaurant.

It will be alleged the man entered the restaurant’s drive-through facility just before 3pm and placed a food order. Staff took the order and requested the man drive his car to a waiting bay while the order was prepared.

The man allegedly refused to move his vehicle, thereby blocking the drive-through facility. It is further alleged that he began filming staff members and threw a number of coins in their direction.

Police were called and upon arrival, requested the man move his vehicle. He allegedly refused to do so and was arrested at the scene. His vehicle was then moved to allow other vehicles to utilise the drive-through.

The man was charged with committing a public nuisance offence and obstructing police and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 28.

Discharge issue sparks court appearance, Cairns: A 25-year-old Trinity Beach man was charged yesterday afternoon following an incident at an inner-city convenience store.

The man entered the store just before 5pm and browsed through phone chargers for a short time before allegedly urinating onto a lower shelf containing packaged stock. The man then purchased a phone charger and left the store.

A store employee contacted police and officers later located a man in the CBD and took him into custody without incident.

He was charged with one count each of wilful damage and committing a public nuisance offence and is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 28.
