Drug trafficking charges, Innisfail
Police have charged four people after a number of search warrants were executed across the Innisfail area yesterday following the closure of Operation Papa Carnelian.
Detectives from the Innisfail Criminal Investigation Branch and officers from Innisfail Police Station executed the warrants at properties at Fitzgerald Creek, Eaton, Pin Gin Hill and Goondi Bend.
Operation Papa Carnelian targeted the trafficking of drugs from across the Cassowary Coast, with 97 arrest made since the beginning of the operation in January. Drugs, weapons, stolen property and in excess of $1.4 million in Australian currency were seized as a result of the operation.
Three men and a woman are due to appear at the Innisfail Magistrates Court today, in relation to yesterday’s warrants.
A 46-year-old Flying Fish Point man has been charged one count of trafficking a dangerous drug and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon (Ballistic vest, and handmade shotgun).
A 26-year-old Pin Gin Hill man was charged with one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and three counts of supplying a dangerous drug.
A 42-year-old Goondi Bend woman was charged with one count each of trafficking a dangerous drug, permit use of place, possessing anything use in the commission of a crime, authority needed to use explosives and possessing unauthorised and prohibited explosives.
A 45-year-old Fitzgerald Creek man was charged with two counts of trafficking a dangerous drug and one count each of possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, possessing dangerous drugs (Schedule 1 drug quantity) and possess drug utensil.
