AFP Legacy a winner from our local Golf Day
Australian Federal Police and staff recently joined together with sponsors, other police colleagues from around the far north and friends at the Half Moon May Golf Club, Yorkey’s Knob to raise $8,500 for AFP Legacy earlier this month.
AFP Legacy was set up to perpetuate the memory of AFP officers killed in the line of duty and to support the families of AFP employees who die in service to their community.
AFP Legacy currently directly supports legatee families by providing tailored financial assistance, as well as providing several welfare grants for terminally ill AFP members each year.
The Cairns AFP Airport Office is a significant supporter of the charity with 100% of employees regularly contributing to Police Legacy through payroll deductions.
Following the success of the day, with over 70 people in attendance, it is hoped the golf day will now become an annual event.
