Cairns overnight crime wrap September 27
Serious assault charges, Woree: A 37-year-old Bentley Park man is scheduled to appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court today following multiple charges relating to a domestic violence incident yesterday.
Police will allege that the man attended a Sandown Close residence yesterday evening allegedly armed with a knife. The man allegedly threatened to assault a 59-year-old woman at that address who is known to him. The man gained entry to the residence and allegedly went on to assault the woman by striking her in the face with a glass bottle.
The man left the residence and was located nearby by police allegedly in possession of drug related items. The victim received treatment for swelling and a bloodied nose.
The man was charged with common assault related to domestic violence, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of a knife in a public place, committing a public nuisance and two counts of contravening a domestic violence order.
Youths charged, burglary Manoora: Two males ages 17 and 16 have been charged following investigations into the burglary of an Enmore Street residence on September 25.
Police will allege that around 11am the males forced entry to the home and stole cash, a wallet and personal electronic equipment. The males fled the scene after being spotted by a witness.
Police located one of the males not far from the scene, further investigations led to the arrest of the second male.
Both males have been charged with burglary and committing an indictable offence, a second charge of obstructing police was preferred against the male that ran from police and was located a short time later.
