Unlawful use of a motor vehicle and police vehicle rammed, Ingham
Detectives from Ingham and Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two men following a pursuit and rammed police vehicle incident at Helens Hill this morning.
Around 6.55am, police were called to a Miltons Road address in relation to a break in and reports of gun shots.
As police approached Pappins Road they observed a stolen vehicle travelling east and it will be alleged when officers attempted to intercept it, the vehicle however accelerated away before veering into a cane paddock.
It will be alleged the stolen vehicle continued into another cane field where it has swerved to the left and collided with the front of the police vehicle.
The vehicle has continued to break and swerve where it will be alleged it has struck the police vehicle a second time.
It will then be alleged the vehicle entered Pappins Road before driving into another cane field where police were able to stop it.
Police arrested two men at the scene and located a number of firearms and ammunition in the vehicle.
No one was physically injured as a result of the incident.
A 24-year-old Condon man has been charged with one count each of burglary, receiving tainted property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, serious assault police, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of fail to stop motor vehicle.
A 53-year-old West End man has been charged with one count each of burglary, receiving tainted property and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Both men are expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow.
