Keepers of the keys, car thieves not relenting
They seek them here, they seek them there – the crooks are seeking our car keys every where.
Between 10:30 pm on October 9 and 4:00 am on October 10 crooks broke into a home in Annie Wood Avenue, Mount Pleasant. Entry was gained through an insecure window situated at the front of the house. Once inside, the crook has searched throughout, including the bedroom where a handbag was found and stolen. Car keys in the handbag were used by the crook to steal the silver coloured 2009 model Holden Clubsport sedan, registration number 775 THI.
The suburb of West Mackay has also been impacted by a similar styled car theft involving the targeting of our car keys. If anything, our crooks have become predictable – police are encouraging residents to take action to protect their property and their vehicles.
- Maintain your home security as well as possible. Your car keys will not be found if the crook cannot get into your home in the first place;
- Store your car keys out of sight; and
- Report any suspicious behaviour that you see, remember, if it’s happening now – ring Triple Zero (000).
Any one with information about these offences are encouraged to contact the Mackay police station on 0749 683 444 or you can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 any time of the day. The reference number is QP1701772031.
