Arson Charges, Mount Isa
Police have charged a man after a house fire was allegedly deliberately started in Pioneer yesterday.
It will be alleged at 5.55pm a man has set fire to some clothing and put it inside a window at the rear of a residence in Dent Street.
The fire has started to spread to the walls either side of the window when police attended and put out the fire with an extinguisher.
The officers had been patrolling a neighbouring street when they were notified of the fire by a member of the public.
A man was located soon after in Short Street.
No one was home at the time of the fire and it will be alleged the man knew the occupant of the residence.
A 38-year-old Winston man has been charged with one count of arson and is expected to appear at the Mount Isa Magistrates Court today, October 14.
