Producing dangerous drug charge, Belmont

Police have charged a 45-year-old man with producing dangerous drugs after officers allegedly located a large shed converted into a hydroponic cannabis set-up at Belmont on Friday, October 13.

A search warrant was executed at a Cumbria Court home Friday morning with police discovering a large shed sub-divided into grow rooms, power rooms and water rooms.

Police will allege a quantity of cannabis both harvested and packaged, as well as growing plants were located inside the shed. Police also located in excess of $6,000 cash.

The 45-year-old man was arrested and charged with producing and possessing dangerous drugs, along with possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime (cash), and possession of property suspected of having been used in the commission of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act.

The man is due to appear in the Wynnum Magistrates Court on November 20.
