Assault occasioning bodily harm, Serious assault police, Garbutt
Police have charged a man following an incident that occurred at a traffic control site on Dearness Street, Garbutt yesterday morning.
It will be alleged around 8:55am a man rode his bike toward a male traffic controller and when advised he could not travel through road works zone became abusive and made threats towards the worker.
The man then allegedly grabbed the 54-year-old worker’s stop/go sign before punching him in the face and throwing the bike at him. The man sustained a minor injury as a result.
A short time later police observed a man to be riding a bike weaving over the road on John Melton Black Drive, Garbutt.
He was arrested and as he was transported to the rear of the police vehicle the man allegedly kicked out at an officer, striking him in the abdomen.
A 23-year-old Bentley Park man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, drink driving and two counts of serious assault police. He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
Drink driving, Douglas
A man has been charged with drink driving following a traffic intercept in Douglas overnight.
At about 11:45pm police stopped a vehicle on Estuary Parade.
The 23-year-old male driver recorded a positive roadside reading and was transported to Townsville station for a further test. It will be alleged there he recorded a positive blood alcohol concentration of 0.166%.
He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on October 31.
