Project Unite deploys
Our Project Unite team deployed yesterday to Westfield Helensvale and Helensvale Railway Station, meeting with the local community about how we can work together to keep everyone safe in the lead up to and during the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Project Unite is the Queensland Police Service’s crime prevention response for detecting, deterring and disrupting criminal and terrorist activity. It provides the community with information that could make a difference in the unlikely event of a critical incident occurring. It also reinforces the Australian National Security message, ‘If it doesn’t add up, speak up’, by encouraging all Queenslanders to report suspicious activity to the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400.
Project Unite was launched earlier this month by Police Minister Mark Ryan and Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski. The Project Unite team partners with community groups and businesses such as Westfield and will appear at different pop up locations on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane between now and the Commonwealth Games.
If you see our team, come and say hello. They will answer any questions you might have about keeping our community safe.
