Cairns overnight crime wrap, October 27

Property and vehicle offences, Mooroobool: Police arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy in the early hours of Thursday morning, after a stolen vehicle was observed performing burnouts on Swallow Street in Mooroobool at about 2:45am.

It will be alleged the stolen vehicle continued southbound on Swallow Street and commenced performing more burnouts in the vicinity of an aged care facility.

When contained by police it will be further alleged the two boys have fled on foot.

It will further be alleged the stolen vehicle was left in gear and continued rolling for about forty metres, eventually crashing into a tree on McCoombe Street.

The two were later located and conveyed to the Cairns Watch House, where other linked property offences were further investigated, which included burglary and unlawful use of motor vehicles.

A 16-year-old Woree boy has been charged with two counts each of burglary and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of motor vehicle and obstruct police and one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break and enter dwelling with intent by break at night.

A 15-year-old Bungalow boy has been charged with two counts each of burglary and commit indictable offence and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, stealing, enter dwelling with intent and enter premises and commit indictable offence.

The two have been remanded in custody and will re-appear in court at a later date. 

Assault, Parramatta Park: A 41-year-old Westcourt man has been charged with one count each of wilful damage, assault occasioning bodily harm and driving over the general alcohol limit.

It will be alleged the man drove his vehicle into the victims vehicle in a Parramatta Park fast food drive-through, before getting out of his vehicle and punching the victim in the face. Police attended shortly after and took up with both parties.

It will further be alleged that the offender returned a positive alcohol reading. He was arrested for the assault and conveyed to the Cairns Police Station where he was charged before being released on bail.

He will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on November 10.
