Mackay dog squad assist in latest arrests
The Mackay Dog Squad have assisted police with detecting six offenders leading to arrests in the past ten days within the Mackay district.
Dog handler, Acting Sergeant Matt Grace and Police Dog Beau assisted with the arrest of a 20-year-old man who allegedly broke into a chiropractic business on Palmer Street at North Mackay on October 21.
The same duo tracked down a 23-year-old man who allegedly broke a front door of a unit on Bundesen Street in North Mackay on October 23.
On October 19, Mackay Dog Squad officers also found a man hiding on a roof of a Luscombe Street home who was wanted by police for previous matters.
Inspector Ian Haughton praised the ongoing work the dog squad.
“This shows the exceptional work the dog squad and their handlers do in detecting offenders in time critical situations.”
“In some cases, offenders who have fled are also in need of medical attention”.
Police Dogs serve the Queensland community selflessly and are an important frontline policing tool directly responsible for the apprehension of more than 1000 offenders every year.
