Appeal for witnesses – stealing, Aitkenvale

Townsville police are appealing for public assistance after heartless thieves stole a handbag from a 90-year-old woman at an Aitkenvale shopping centre yesterday.

Around 10am, the woman was placing her walker in the boot of her car, parked near the old Bendigo Bank, when she dropped her handbag onto the ground.

The handbag was quickly snatched by unknown thieves who were last seen running through the Sunvale Centre car park.

The woman was not physically injured however, was distressed over the incident and having lost her handbag, which contained cash and personal items.

The empty handbag was located later that day near the carpark of a child care centre on Ross River Road.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward as Police have limited information on who was involved.
