Appeal for witnesses to damage at Edmonton Lawn Cemetery
Wilful damage to grass and plaques at the Edmonton Lawn Cemetery
Edmonton police are investigating the damage to approximately thirty graves at the Edmonton Lawn Cemetery.
The lawn graves and plaques in the baby section were driven over by a ‘hoon’ sometime between 3:30pm on Friday and 6:45am today.
It’s believed the driver of the vehicle has spun the wheels, causing damage to the lawns and some tyre marks on plaques.
Officer in Charge of Edmonton Police Station, Senior Sergeant Jason Smith was appalled by the behaviour and today appealed for public assistance to identify the driver and vehicle involved.
“We’ve already received information from a member of the public who saw a silver coloured van driving on the area,” Senior Sergeant Smith said.
“It’s believed the vehicle has travelled through a garden bed from Hardy Road before spinning wheels causing the damage to approximately thirty graves.”
