Are you going to be alright on Saturday night?

Preparations are underway for the Once In A Lifetime concert by Elton John

It’s nearly time to don the feather boas and the crazy sunglasses as Sir Elton John rockets into Cairns this weekend.

Police preparations have been in place for months and senior police have been working closely with event organisers to ensure that Saturday night is more than alright for concert goers.

Police operations coordinator Senior Sergeant Brian Platz said the message police want to convey is a simple one.

“Take a bus, check your gate and don’t be late,” Senior Sergeant Platz said.

“Preparation before attending the concert is vital. Serious consideration should be given to utilising public transport options as parking is extremely limited and a number of road closures are in place.

“There will be a large police presence both inside and outside the venue and antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.

“Follow the instructions of event organisers, police and volunteers and be considerate of others so that everyone can enjoy this ‘once in a lifetime’ event .”
