Burglary, North Mackay
A 20 -year-old Mackay man has been arrested by police in the process of running from the scene of an alleged burglary.
It’s alleged that at 10:30 pm on October 21 a business in Palmer Street, North Mackay was broken into by two people. Attempts were made to kick a front door open unsuccessfully, before an object was alleged to have been thrown through a glass window to gain entry. It’s further alleged that cash was stolen from the premises.
Acting in response to information received, police promptly attended the scene and have intercepted the 20-year-old man on foot in a nearby street. The second person involved in the burglary was not located. After a conversation with police the male was arrested and he has been charged with entering a premise and committing an indictable offence, possessing a drug utensil for use, failing to properly dispose of a needle and syringe and stealing. He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court later this morning to have the matters heard.
