Cairns overnight crime wrap, October 20
Stealing, Edmonton: Police are investigating a stealing offence which occurred last night on Hambledon Drive, between Quinn Drive and Walker Road, Edmonton.
Around 8:45pm the victim, a 20-year-old Edmonton woman, was standing at the bus stop (eastbound) when she was approached by an unknown male from her left side.
Upon noticing the male, a second person has approached from an unknown direction and torn her handbag from her right shoulder.
After taking possession of the victim’s handbag, both offenders fled on foot through B.R. Riley Park, across Accatino Street and into a public easement that leads into a creek line.
Among the items stolen were the victim’s purse and keys.
One of the offenders is described as having a dark complexion, 16-17 years of age, very skinny and wearing a white hoodie, while the second offender is described as being tall, very skinny, 19-20 years of age, dark complexion, and wearing all dark clothing.
Police are appealing to members of the public for information that may assist in identifying the offenders, or anyone that may have been in the area at the time that could assist with investigations, to contact Edmonton Police or Crime Stoppers.
Property offences, Cairns City: A 13-year-old Kewarra Beach girl has been charged following investigations into a break and enter offence that allegedly occurred on the Cairns Esplanade on Wednesday night.
It will be alleged the girl broke into the business where she accessed a safe and stole an amount of cash.
The girl has been charged with one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break and enter premises and commit indictable offence.
