Cairns overnight crime wrap, October 24

Property offences, Edmonton & Bentley Park: Police have arrested and charged two men and one juvenile male in relation to the break and enter offences committed in the early hours of Sunday morning at two separate business in South Cairns.

The arrests came after police executed a search warrant at a Yarrabah address.

Two Yarrabah men, a 20-year-old and a 17-year-old, have both been charged with numerous property offences which include burglary and commit indictable offence, enter dwelling with intent by break at night, enter premises and commit indictable offence, receiving tainted property and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

It will be alleged the men rammed two vehicles into two shop fronts, using stolen vehicles, which caused damage to both premises.

It will further be alleged a quantity of liquor was stolen from one of the shops, before they fled from the scene in the stolen vehicle, which was later located and retrieved in Yarrabah.

The men will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.

A 15-year-old Yarrabah boy was also charged with one count of receiving stolen property and was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Assault, Manoora: A 25-year-old Manoora man has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed after a disturbance at a Moody Street address last night.

It will be alleged the man assaulted an 18-year-old Manoora woman, by twice hitting her in the head with an umbrella.

The woman sustained head injuries that required medical attention.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the Cairns Watch House and will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.

The man and woman are known to each other.
