Cairns overnight crime wrap, October 25
Property offences, Kewarra Beach: Police are investigating a break and enter that occurred at a Poolwood Road business in Kewarra Beach overnight.
At about 2:57am, police were alerted to the break and enter after reports of multiple activation’s of the premises’ intruder alarm.
Entry was gained via the front sliding door, which was partially open and off its rail upon police arrival. The door has a large crack across the top half of the glass panel, which appears to have been caused during the forced entry.
A substantial amount of liquor was stolen from the business, along with lost stock as a result of smashed bottles during the break.
Initial investigations indicate that at least five offenders, possibly aged between 15 to 18 years, were involved in the offence. Investigations are continuing.
Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in identifying the offenders or anyone that may have been in the area at the time that could assist with investigations to contact Smithfield CIB or Crime Stoppers.
