Update: Serious assault, Manoora:  Police have charged two more boys as a result of ongoing investigations into the alleged serious assault of a 62-year-old woman at Manoora on Monday afternoon.

It will be alleged the woman was in the front yard of a Springfield Crescent address at around 3.45pm when three boys walking past the property assaulted her.

One of the boys allegedly spat at the woman before slapping her to the face. The group then ran off toward Jensen Street.

A 12-year-old Manoora boy was charged on the day of the assault and officers from the Manoora Police Beat have since charged another two Manoora boys aged 11 and 15 in relation to the same incident.

The 11 and 12-year-olds were also charged in relation to other recent offences, including another assault where a 74-year-old man was allegedly spat on and had his car damaged at a Manoora shopping centre carpark on September 14.

A girl aged 14 was also charged over that incident and a 9-year-old boy was counselled in relation to his alleged involvement as well.

In another incident that occurred outside a Springfield Crescent address on the night of September 15, it is alleged that the 14-year-old girl, the 12-year-old boy and another youth threatened to assault a 66-year-old man after he saw them attempting to scale a unit complex fence.

They were each charged with serious assault.

Sexual assault charges, Manunda:  A 31-year-old Woree man was charged yesterday morning following the alleged assault of a woman at Manunda.

The woman was walking on Anderson Street at around 9.20am when she was approached by a man on a bicycle.

It will be alleged that the man grabbed at her inappropriately before riding off after being challenged by the victim. She was not physically injured as a result of the incident and contacted police immediately.

Police located a man near the intersection of Sheridan and James Street about 40 minutes later and he was taken into custody.

Further investigations were conducted into this and a second similar incident that occurred on Spence Street at Bungalow on September 15 where a 30-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted in a similar manner.

The man was charged with two counts of sexual assault and appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon.

Arrest, Earlville: A 20-year-old Cairns man has been arrested and charged following a number of recent incidents, including the alleged ramming of a police vehicle at Buchan’s Point on August 28.

Police attended a De Jarlais Street residence at around 2.30pm yesterday and the man fled from the address on foot as officers approached.

It will be alleged that he then forced entry to a Pitt Street residence and attempted to hide inside. He was subsequently located and taken into custody.

The man was charged with failing to appear in court on August 2 and he is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this morning.

Detectives from Cairns and Mossman are expected to be speaking with the man in relation to outstanding matters over coming days.
