Drug charges, Gordonvale: A 43-year-old Gordonvale man was charged with drug offences yesterday, following analysis of items and substances seized from a residence late last year.

It will be alleged police executed a search warrant at a Templeton Street address on December 2, 2016 and seized a large quantity of firearms and ammunition, as well as chemicals used in the manufacture of illicit drugs.

The man was subsequently charged with a number of weapons, drug and property offences as a result.

A quantity of glass laboratory equipment and a substance suspected as being a dangerous drug was also seized at the time and forwarded for scientific analysis.

As a result of that analysis, detectives spoke with the man yesterday and he was charged with possession of a dangerous drug and possession of things used in the commission of a crime.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 26.

Property charges, Cairns: Two boys aged 14, from Manunda and Mooroobool were charged yesterday as a result of property related investigations.

Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad located the pair at a Parramatta Park address just before 3pm and they were taken into custody.

It will be alleged on September 2, a car parked at an Abbott Street address was entered and a debit card stolen, with the card used to purchase goods at Cairns North and Manunda.

A 14-year-old Manunda boy was charged with two counts of fraud and one count each of entering premises and stealing, and trespass.

The Mooroobool boy was charged with two counts each of entering premises with intent, wilful damage and stealing and one count of fraud.

The charges relate to offences allegedly committed between September 1 and 3, including the damaging of property and theft of money from two shopping centres at Redlynch and Cairns City.

He was also charged with fraud as a result of goods allegedly purchased using the stolen debit card.

Drug charges, Holloways Beach: A 53-year-old Holloways Beach man was charged yesterday following a traffic intercept in which police will allege they found cash and cannabis in a vehicle which was stopped in Magnolia Street around midday.

Officers subsequently executed a search warrant at a local address where a further quantity of cash, cannabis and drug related paraphernalia were allegedly located.

The man was charged with one count each of supplying a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a drug utensil and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of a drug offence.

He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 5.
