Burglary charge, Cairns City: A 30-year-old Holloways Beach man who was charged with a significant number of property and fraud related offences on Tuesday is now facing an additional burglary charge.
The man has been in police custody since his arrest after fleeing a Poinciana Street address at Holloways Beach at around 5pm on Tuesday.
It will be further alleged that earlier that day, a Sheridan Street motel room was broken into sometime between 9:30am and midday whilst the occupants were out.
A laptop computer and two tablet devices, chargers and other computer related equipment, jewellery and other items were stolen.
The laptop and one charger were subsequently recovered following the execution of a search warrant at the Poinciana Street address.
Cairns Property Crime Squad officers spoke with the man again yesterday and he was charged with burglary.
He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this morning. Investigations are continuing into the outstanding stolen property.
Property charges, Smithfield: A 15-year-old boy from Smithfield was charged yesterday following investigations into a number of offences allegedly committed at Smithfield and Cairns.
The boy was located and arrested in the Cairns CBD at around 11.30am yesterday.
He was subsequently charged with one count each of burglary, entering premises and stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing from the person, possession of a drug utensil, stealing, and two counts of receiving tainted property.
The charges relate to offences allegedly committed at Smithfield, Caravonica, Trinity Park, Cairns North and Cairns City between July 7 and August 8.
