Serious assault charge, Manoora: Police charged a 12-year-old Manoora boy yesterday following investigations into the alleged assault of a 62-year-old woman at Manoora.

The woman was in the front yard of a Springfield Crescent address at around 3.45pm when three youths were walking past the property and taunted her.

It will be alleged that one of the youths then spat toward the woman before slapping her to the face. The group then ran off toward Jensen Street.

The victim was not physically injured as a result of the incident and contacted police immediately afterward.

A patrolling crew located the group on Jensen Street a short time later and they were taken into custody.

The boy was subsequently charged with one count of serious assault.

Property charges, Cairns: Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Squad charged a 15-year-old Mooroobool boy yesterday following investigations into a significant number of property related offences.

The boy was arrested at his home address at 3.30pm and charged with a total of 39 property related offences.

These comprised 13 counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles, nine counts of stealing, six counts of unlicensed driving, five counts of burglary, three counts of entering premises and stealing, and one count each of wilful damage, attempted stealing and attempted burglary.

The charges relate to offences allegedly committed from Palm Cove to Gordonvale between August 19 and September 14.

Fraud charge, Cairns: A 52-year-old Bungalow man was charged yesterday following investigations into a fraud related complaint involving a south-west Queensland firewood company

It will be alleged the man was a part owner in the Miles based company, and withdrew funds for his own use during February of 2015 before leaving the business.

Detectives spoke with the man yesterday and he was issued with a notice to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 9 to face a charge of fraud.
