Burglary and property related charges, Smithfield: A 17-year-old Smithfield man was yesterday charged following investigations into a number of burglaries which occurred at Smithfield in August and September.
It will be alleged the man entered a motor vehicle which was parked at a Lomond Street residence on August 27 before stealing property. The man then stole property from an adjacent residence.
It will also be alleged that the man returned to the residence on September 10, before breaking in and stealing a vehicle parked outside. The vehicle was later located in a damaged condition at Manoora.
He was charged with one count each of burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fraud, entering premises and stealing, possession of stolen property, unlicensed driving and stealing.
The man is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 28.
Property related charges, Mount Sheridan: Two boys aged 14 and 15 were yesterday charged following investigations into incidents outside a Mount Sheridan Tavern on Sunday morning.
It will be alleged the pair smashed windows to gain entry to a vehicle parked in the car park area of the Barnard Drive premises before searching for property. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle.
It will be further alleged that around 3am, the pair attempted to force entry to a number of doors at the Barnard Drive premises but fled on foot after being disturbed by a staff member.
Detectives located the two boys at their home addresses yesterday morning and they were taken into custody.
The 14-year-old was charged with one count each of entering premises with intent, attempted entry to premises with intent, and receiving tainted property.
The 15-year-old was charged with six offences comprising three counts of entering premises and stealing, and one count each of entering premises with intent, attempted entry to premises and wilful damage.
