Serious assault police charges, Cairns: Three people are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 11 after a Sunday session turned sour.
Police were called to a disturbance at a hotel in McLeod Street at about 5.30pm yesterday after its alleged a 28-year-old Mooroobool man was refused entry to the bar.
It’s further alleged the man became aggressive and wrestled with security before two women known to him joined the fray and attempted to grab at security.
Police were called and as one officer handcuffed the man, the crowd swarmed around a female officer.
It’s further alleged the two women punched the police officer in the head before scratching and gouging at her face.
Two women aged 47-years and 39-years from Mooroobool and Manoora respectively, were charged with one count each of serious assault police causing bodily harm.
The man was charged with one count each of public nuisance and assault occasioning bodily harm.
All three received hotel banning notices for three months.
Stealing as a servant, Cairns: Cairns detectives yesterday charged a 57-year-old Mount Sheridan woman with one count of stealing as a servant.
It will be alleged the woman stole a large quantity of cash from a McLeod Street, business over a period of approximately nine months. Investigations are continuing.
She is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 24.
