Can you guess what driving offence 85 drivers were caught doing this August?
Take out your wallet or purse. Remove your driver licence. Check your expiry date.
Eighty-five drivers have been caught driving on Mackay police district roads with expired licences in August.
A small number of these drivers admitted to us that they knew their driver licence had expired but chose to drive any way. By far the majority though were drivers who were totally unaware their drivers licence had expired.
You can renew your licence within 28 days prior to the expiration date. If you drive on an expired licence, an on-the-spot fine is unavoidable, an impoundment of your car is possible (depending on your traffic history) potential issues may arise with your car insurance also.
All of these problems are avoidable – check the expiry date on your driver licence now.
More information on renewing your driver license is here.
