Drink Driver, Innisfail: A 49-year-old Innisfail man was intercepted by police driving on Fitzgerald Esplanade, Innisfail at 7.30am on Wednesday.
A subsequent breath test allegedly returned an alcohol reading of 0.039 per cent BAC. Although under the regular 0.05% alcohol limit, the man had a probationary driver’s licence that required him to have a zero alcohol limit.
The man was charged with one count of driving whilst over the zero limit and is scheduled to appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court on September 11.
This is a timely reminder that drivers must adhere to the conditions imposed by the wide variety of driver’s licences and ensure they are fully understand any particular conditions that may affect them.
Stolen vehicle, East Palmerston: Police recently received a report relating to the theft of a 1993 grey Toyota Tarago van that was parked on the Palmerston Highway in the vicinity of Rodgers Road, East Palmerston.
The vehicle was left parked after suffering mechanical issues and was parked in the location for a number of days prior to going missing between Monday and Tuesday.
The vehicle did not have number plates attached at the time it was stolen. It is likely the vehicle was towed away due to the mechanical issues.
Drug arrest, Innisfail: At 7:45pm on Wednesday Police attended an address at Martin Street, East Innisfail in relation to an inquiry.
Whilst conducting this inquiry police undertook a search of the property.
During this search police allege they located a quantity of cannabis, drug utensils and a number of power tools.
As a result a 36-year-old Innisfail man was arrested and charged with possession of drug utensils, possession of property acquired for use with drugs, possession of suspected stolen property and two counts of possessing a dangerous drug.
The man is scheduled to appear at the Innisfail Magistrates Court on September 18.
