Cassowary Coast overnight wrap, Friday September 15

Traffic crash, Merryburn: At about 5.20am yesterday morning a single vehicle traffic crash occurred on the Tully-Mission Beach Road at Merryburn.

It appears that a utility left the roadway and impacted an embankment. Two Tully men, a 19-year-old and a 32-year old were transported to Tully Hospital with minor injuries.

Investigations are continuing.

Wilful damage, Innisfail: At about 10.30pm on Wednesday night a vehicle parked at a licenced premises on Fitzgerald Esplanade, Innisfail had its windscreen damaged.

It appears that a gas cylinder has been removed from a nearby forklift and used to smash the windscreen.

Arrest, Innisfail: A 61-year-old Innisfail man was arrested and charged with wilful damage, trespass and possession of a drug on Wednesday evening.

Police were called to the vicinity of Carmel Street, East Innisfail at about 7pm after the man was allegedly observed damaging a solar light within the yard of a residence. Police located the man and subsequent inquires revealed that the solar light had allegedly been removed from another yard in the street.

Subsequent inquiries at the man’s residence allegedly located an amount of prescription drugs.

The man is scheduled to appear at the Innisfail Magistrates Court on October 9.
